With the town centre just a short 5 minute drive from Bay Crest Motel Nelson, you’re close enough that you’ll be able to slip in some retail therapy during your stay.

There are more than 320 shops in Nelson so there’s every chance this vibrant town will be able to cater to your consumer requirements. These include a variety of international chain stores, souvenir outlets, florists, fashion boutiques, galleries, retail stores and specialty shops. Oh and don’t forget the famous Saturday market.



One of the greatest features of Nelson shopping is that the city centre is very compact, allowing people to explore it quickly on foot. Nelson also has four very large car parking buildings and unlike the big cities of New Zealand where the cost of 30 minutes shopping is beyond belief, parking in Nelson starts at $1.00 per hour.

You’ll find Nelson shops open Monday – Friday from 9am to 5.30pm and from 10am till 2pm on Saturdays, with the exception of some of the chain stores, which will stay open until 5.30pm on Saturdays and open on Sundays as well.
